blog action day

I think it is a great idea to arrange a blog action day, and even I got a blog;) I am also very positive that Environment Commissioner Dimas have open blog hours. I hope that it will be to an inspiration for other politicians in leading positions to do the same. I also think that it will make people more aware and interested in the ongoing environmental discussion. It might be impossible to not be aware of the discussion about the environmental problems since it is talked about everywhere, but I still believe that there is some time until people become active in making a difference. It will also take some time until people start understanding that you and me and everyone can make a difference in our everyday life. It might happen that we have to give up on something but if it will make the nature a better place to live in why not... Have a nice day!!

Questions to Environment Commissioner Dimas

  1. There are big differences among EU countries as far as the general public consciousness about the environment is concerned. I have lived both in Greece and Sweden and I can attest for the above. What are EU´s plans in order to close this gap?
  2. In modern national economic evaluation systems (ex. BNP) sustainability and environmental planning is not included. Should EU rank the countries concerning the above measurements? Is EU considering “punishing” countries that are ranked low in “environmental scales”?
